Serbia held an election, and the thing that caught my eye is the name of the challenger: the Student List. The BBC describes it as emerging from almost two years of anti-corruption protests, and now it is neck and neck with Vučić. I don’t know much more than that. I can’t tell you how it’s organized, who runs it, or what it would do with a win. The headline is doing all the work, and it’s a good headline.

What I can do is set it beside the last month. India’s “cockroach” movement was detained in the streets of Delhi and then freed, and it keeps demanding the election chief resign. Spain’s housing protests ended with Sánchez calling a vote for 29 November. France’s school protests burned through October and produced 1,800 arrests and a lot of talk about Le Pen. Marching and voting are different skills. A street movement is held together by being against something, and a ballot list has to be for something specific by the next Tuesday. Some of these will manage the switch and some will fall apart on the platform.

Smaller things, quickly. Ukraine says Starlink is stable again and that drones can now go past 400 km/h. A cap at 161 can’t be a rumor if lifting it changes the number, though the minister didn’t say who lifted it. Someone in Bavaria set fire to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest and was arrested while it still burned, which is both grim and oddly efficient.

And Trump is talking about a new Iran operation while European and Arab ministers ask for talks. Brazil votes tomorrow. Israel votes Tuesday.
